Scott is a Colorado native with ties to Grand County extending longer than 50 years. His family still has a home on Grand Lake, an incredible place that engendered in him a love for water.
A graduate of architecture from the University of Washington, Scott achieved greatness in 1994 as World Champion in rowing competing in Tampere, Finland, preceded by a fourth place in the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. He now channels his passion for water in the sport of competitive sailing. Munn's architectural career launched in Vail and continued to Grand County in 2000. As founder of Munn Architecture, LLC, in 2007, he has brought together a team of talented individuals who share his unique perspective for innovative architecture and how it relates to the mountain vernacular of historic ranches and pioneer settlements. Scott resides in greater Grand Lake with his wife Tonya, daughter Ashlyn and son Zayden. He also is an avid fly angler and seasoned conga player.
With a knack for executing technical solutions to complex design problems, Reed joined the MA team in February 2016 as a Project Architect / Manager and brings a wealth of experience to the firm. He has multiple degrees in Architecture and Art & Design, is a licensed Architect in the State of Colorado and offers 10-plus years of project experience in a variety of markets including civic, administration offices, commercial, retail, restaurant and residential.
Reed earned his Bachelor of Architecture (BArch) and Bachelor of Art and Design at Iowa State University, during which he spent a semester studying abroad in Rome, Italy. From this experience, Reed developed an affinity for the adventures of travel and an appreciation for exploring diverse perspectives.
Before taking a bold leap to make the high country his home, Reed worked professionally in Denver with the firms Roth Sheppard Architects and Fentress Architects. Notable projects on which he worked include: the 50,000 square-foot Administration Office Building at the Denver Art Museum; the 20,600 square-foot remodel and addition of ViewHouse 2.0 in Centennial; the 13,100 square-foot Ballroom remodel of the Denver Performing Arts Center; the 31,400 square-foot Riverside Library and Cultural Center in Evans, Colorado; and multiple Forensic Science Labs for the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Invaluable to the firm in design and Building Information Modeling production, Reed explores the creative opportunities of each project and develops client-responsive solutions which seek to harmonize context, sustainability and artistic expression. In his spare time, Reed also enjoys drawing, taking in local festivals, home-brewing beer, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and exploring the many hiking trails around Rocky Mountain National Park.

Darrell Mundy joined the Munn Architecture team in Fall 2017 and brought with him an avid understanding of how art can merge with the environmental challenges and solutions of architecture. He earned a bachelor degree in Environmental Design at the University of Oklahoma and an Art History degree from the University of North Texas before achieving his Masters in Architecture at the University of Oklahoma. He achieved four minors as well as two certificates from Collin College in CAD and almost a third in Interior Design. He has since worked for Dallas firms HKS, RHA and Symmetry Architects, as well as Blair Remy in Oklahoma City. Originally from Michigan, he was raised in Texas where he came to appreciate delicious barbecue and the Texan culture. Early on, his trajectory toward a career in architecture was evident; having studied Russian in high school and Spanish in college, Darrell continued his education living abroad studying architecture, history, culture and languages, and traveled to eight countries. Now in the rare moments that this busy husband of 10 years and father of four finds free time — when not cultivating his skills as an architectural designer through his hobbies of sketching, drawing and photography — he may be playing one of multiple musical instruments he has taken up, or, honing his Eagle-Scout self in the great outdoors of his new-found home of Colorado.
Ben Koontz joins the Munn Architecture team having moved to the Colorado mountains from the Cleveland, Ohio, area, where design runs in his family with an art-teacher sister and artist uncle. Ben earned his Bachelor’s degree from the College of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning at the University of Cincinnati. There he developed a passion for design and a strong work ethic, which he applied while working at three separate architectural internships across the country, namely: MS Consultants; GWWO Inc./Architects; and FME Architecture+Design. Upon graduation before obtaining his master’s degree from Ohio State University, Ben worked in Australia for Ecosystem Architecture and was fortunate to dive and explore the Great Barrier Reef while living off-shore on a boat for five days. Besides diving, Ben also loves skiing, billiards, photography and traveling. He is also a self-proclaimed “diehard Indians and Cavs fan” from having spent most of his life in greater Cleveland. As a young boy, he spent a lot of time with Legos in his hands, and his deep passion for making things with machinery, 3d printing and milling machines translates into the art of architecture and modeling. He always looks forward to seeing great ideas emerge into reality.
